2008 Cub & Webelos Resident Camp

Theme is "Scouting Out America"

Join us next summer at Franklin L Cary Camp near Lafayette, Indiana for Cub and Webelos Resident Camp. Resident Camp is a lot fun. Scouts will hone their skills with the bow and arrow and BB guns. We have a great swimming pool, and a variety of fun games to play and Scout skills to learn along with working on cooking, crafts, advancement and Boldering wall, all at Resident Camp. Scouts will be involved in all sorts of wet activities. Hydro artillery is welcome. The big difference in Resident Camp over Day Camp is that Scouts are actually camping overnight. In addition, Webelos participate in action archery and BB’s plus canoeing. Each year offers a series of new and exciting adventures that are in many cases, quite challenging for the Scouts.

Cub Resident Camp (CRC) is designed for boys who just finished first grade. All boys must be registered Scouts. CRC is the ratio of one parent (or adult 21 years or older) per boy camping.

Webelos Resident Camp (WRC) is open to all Webelos Scouts, including graduated Bears (3rd, 4th, 5th graders). All boys must be registered Scouts.

There are six Resident Camp sessions conducted during the month of July at Cary Camp.  Two Cub Resident Camp (CRC) sessions and four Webelos Resident Camp Sessions. The first and last sessions are Cub Resident Camp. The dates of those sessions are as follows:

Cub Resident Camp (CRC) Session 1 - July 5-7

Webelos Resident Camp (WRC) Session 1 - July 10-13

Webelos Resident Camp (WRC) Session 2 – July 13-16

Cub Resident Camp (CRC) Session 2 – July 18-20

Webelos Resident Camp (WRC) Session 3 – July 20-23

Webelos Resident Camp (WRC) Session 4 – July 24-27

Information on summer time programs including registration, health forms, equipment list, and camperships will be forwarded to your Pack in early 2008. All needed forms are available here or you can  visit the council website at, www.sagamoresignals.com.

We look forward to seeing your Scouts participating in Cub and Webelos Resident Camp during the 2008 summer camping season. Start planning now.

Yours in Scouting,

Doug Klumpe - Camp Director - email - 765-746-0567

CUB RESIDENT CAMP (CRC)

All boys must be registered Scouts. (This is not required of adults.) CRC is designed for boys who are in first or second grade in the 2007 - 2008 school year. CRC is a one Adult (21 years old or older) per one boy camping experience.  There maybe exceptions, such as twins, but by and large this rule will be strictly adhered to. Fee for camp is $90.00 for each adult/boy team.  A $20.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is due on a first come - first served basis to hold your spot in camp. The balance of the fee ($70.00) is then due by May 15 ($100.00 after May 100). A maximum of 60 teams per session will be allowed, so don't hesitate to get your registration in.

WEBELOS RESIDENT CAMP (WRC)

All boys must be registered Scouts. (This is not required of adults.) WRC is designed for boys who are in third or fourth grade in the 2006 - 2007 school year. Adult leadership is the responsibility of the pack (ration 6 boys to 1 adult). Registration for WRC should be done as a pack. Registration forms and more information can be obtained through the Council Service Center or Web Site. Fees for WRC are $105.00 for boys ($115.00 after May 15) and $55.00 for adults ($65 after May 15). A $20.00 per boy non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is due on a first come - first served basis to hold your spot in camp. The balance of the fee is then due by May 21. A maximum of 125 boys per session will be allowed. We highly encourage you to get your registration in as soon as possible.

Housing and what to bring:

Scouts are strongly encouraged to bring their own tents. Camp tents are available but be aware that they have no floors and mosquitoes may be a problem. Please indicate on the registration form if camp tents are required.

All campers bring their own bedroll and personal items. Details will be given out at June 1st orientation meeting. Hot showers and bathroom facilities are available.

WRC and CRC are held at Franklin L. Cary Camp on State Road 26, approximately 2 miles east of I-65, Lafayette, IN.  Click for a map.

Meals:

Nutritious, well-balanced meals are prepared and served by our kitchen staff in the camp's Dining Hall. WRC campers will cook one dinner in their campsite. Food and equipment will be provided for this meal.
