McAllister Scouting Center

McAllister Scouting Center is made up of 4 parts plus restrooms, each can be used individually or in combination.  The entire complex is heated, air conditioned and wireless internet throughout.  The training center also has wired internet.

  • McAllister Hall, the main dining room is 48 by 85 feet, with a capacity of approx. 275.  Other facilities include electronic equipment; VCR, PA, PC and a computer  all connected to an overhead projector.  McAllister has a gas fireplace and can be used for indoor campfires or a general meeting area.

  • Heritage Hall is a room of approximately 28 by 40 feet, with a capacity 75.  Heritage has a gas fireplace and can be used by smaller groups needing a meeting area or small dining area.

  • Sorensen Training Center is a 4 room complex designed for training or other meetings. It has TV, VCR, PC and DVD in 3 of the rooms.

  • Kitchen is usable by all three of the other parts of the complex. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, grill, convection oven, refrigeration, freezers, dish washing machine and ice machine. Dishes are available.

Sioux Cabin, Shawnee Cabin, and Tecumseh Lodge

  • Sioux Cabin will sleep 14 people in bunks in one large room.  A separate room has  two bunks for leaders for a total of 18 per cabin. Cabins is equipped with electricity, refrigerator and a fireplace with wood-burning insert.

  • Shawnee Cabin sleep 14 people in bunks in one large room.  A separate room has two bunks for leaders for a total of 18 per cabin. Cabin is equipped with electricity, refrigerator, restroom and gas heat.

  • Tecumseh Lodge consists of four rooms. One room will sleep 30 people in double bunks. A second sleeping room will hold 6 leaders. Tecumseh is also equipped with two restrooms (sink and toilet only), a kitchenette, and a 20 foot by 20 foot "meeting room" that can sleep 2.

Service Building
     Equipment such as tents, program equipment, etc., is stored in the building for use by Scouts, Scouting events and the resident camps for Cubs and Webelos.

Camp Sites
     Cary Camp has five campsites. Each camp site is equipped with water and sanitary facilities. Camp sites are located far enough apart so that groups camping can work separately of each other.
  

Shelter Houses
     Six shelters all equipped with electricity, are available:

  • The Teepee – fully enclosed with wooden floor and tables.

  • Justin Matthew Newell Memorial Shelter – concrete floored with a fire place and tables.

  • Raisor Shelter – concrete floored with a climbing wall and tables.

  • Moser Shelter – concrete floored and tables.

  • Cecil Warner Learning Center - concrete floor and benches.

  • Osco Drug Shelter.     

Swimming Pool
     A 40 foot wide by 75 foot long swimming pool meets all of the health requirements of the State of
Indiana . It has toilets and showers, and it can be safely used by 200 persons at a time.  

Chapel
     The Chapel area seats 100 people. It is nestled in the woods, and the site has electricity.  

Ranger
     The ranger lives year round on the property making it possible for the facilities to be rented year around for reunions or Church picnics as well as many scouting programs..
